The below tips are a great reminder of the importance of taking the daily steps to keep your mouth healthy.

Proper Brushing: Seems obvious but many of us are doing it wrong. Brushing is the easiest method to help keep teeth clean and healthy. Brushing should be done twice a day for optimal results.

Flossing: Yes, flossing can be a chore. Most of us hate doing it, it’s tedious and we’d rather just get on with our day/or to bed. But flossing is very important. Flossing allows you to reach deep between your teeth where the toothbrush bristles cannot reach or even mouthwash cannot wash away. Flossing should be done once a day.

Mouthwash: Mouthwash isn’t particularly necessary but it can be a great added feature. It can help maintain good breath as well as help maintain strong teeth. Mouthwash can’t do all the work but it is a nice ‘cherry on top’ of your regular at-home routine.

Clean your Tongue: Do you do this? If not, you should start right away. Using your toothbrush is fine but not as effective as a tongue scraper. By using a professional tongue cleaner you remove countless bacteria that otherwise live, particularly on the rougher top surface of your tongue. These can contribute to bad breath and negatively affect your dental health. Perform this daily.

Visiting Your Dentist: Twice a year! This allows your dentist to give you a full hygiene treatment, as well as a comprehensive exam is taken and x-rays to help detect and prevent future dental treatments from occurring. Which is good for your budget!

By following these simple steps you can keep your mouth healthy and keep the dentists’ drill at bay!
