Your First Visit to Tory Hill Dental
We know that first impressions are lasting impressions, and that’s why your first visit is especially important to us. Your first appointment focuses on us getting to know you, taking a look at your oral health, and creating a follow-up treatment plan.
Your Initial Examination
Most of your first appointment will be centered around an initial examination. Firstly you’ll have digital X-rays taken for Dr. Fenn to review before he moves on to a visual examination. He’ll take a careful look at your teeth and gums, making note of any signs of trouble.
Discussing Your Smile Goals
After Dr. Fenn has finished his examination, you’ll have plenty of time to discuss your oral health. He will likely begin the conversation by discussing any red flags he might have noticed with your smile or by asking questions about your oral health history. We want to also encourage you to share your own thoughts about your oral health as well as what goals you have for your smile.
Scheduling a Follow-Up Appointment
Once you’ve finished your chat with Dr. Fenn he’ll recommend the next step. Most patients’ next appointments will be a deep clean with our hygienist to ensure their teeth are free of plaque. From there you might have a treatment appointment (i.e. getting a cavity filled), an elective treatment (cosmetic care), or simply book another check-up in six months.
Creating Your Custom Preventive Care Plan
Prevention is everything when it comes to protecting your oral health. Our strong focus on preventive care helps patients maintain all the hard work they’ve put into achieving an optimal level of oral health.
General Preventive Care
We recommend all of our patients see us every six months for a check-up and a cleaning with our hygienist. Check-ups and cleanings may seem very routine, but they’re an important part of all our patients’ personalized dental care plans. They give us a chance to catch problems before damage occurs and also remove harmful plaque that can cause tooth decay or gum disease.
Specialized Preventive Care
Some patients’ smiles need a little extra help. If our team discovers that you’re at high risk for developing cavities or gum disease, we might schedule more frequent check-ups and cleanings so we can keep an eye on your oral health.
We also offer routine oral cancer screenings, TMJ therapy, and nightguards as preventive forms of oral care.
Restoring your oral health with gentle, effective treatment.
Even with a great oral care regimen, sometimes cavities, gum disease, and even accidental injuries still occur. When this happens we’re ready to assist our patients with general and restorative dentistry services.
Restorative Dentistry
When a tooth has suffered damage—whether it be from tooth decay or a crack—we’ll begin your treatment plan as quickly as possible. Depending on your needs we may use tooth-colored fillings, dental crowns, inlays/onlays, or a combination of services. We also offer root canal therapy for painful teeth that need treatment prior to a crown placement.
If you have missing teeth we can also help you get back your smile with bridges, dentures, partial dentures, and state-of-the-art dental implants.
Periodontal Therapy
Gum disease is a very common oral health concern and one we take very seriously. If Dr. Fenn discovers that you have gum disease or periodontitis (advanced gum disease), we’ll begin treatment right away. We call this treatment process periodontal therapy. It includes frequent, specialized deep cleaning sessions in our office, a careful at-home oral care regimen, and plenty of support from our team.
Tooth Extractions
Making the decision to extract a tooth is never taken lightly. When we do our very best to save your tooth but too much damage has occurred, the next best option is extraction and replacement. We often recommend dental implants as a restorative solution after a tooth has been extracted.
